Today we are going to talk about slag wool. What is it? It is a raw material of mineral fiber board or mineral wool board.

Slag wool or mineral wool made from industrial waste blast furnace slag as the main raw material. Its main components (%) are: SiO2 36～39, Al2O3 10～14, Fe2O3 0.6～1.2, CaO 38～42, MgO 6～10, S<0.7. Thermal conductivity is 0.036～0.05W/(m·K); slag ball content is 3%～10%; melting temperature is 800℃. When the iron content or magnesium content and the slag ball content are too high, it is necessary to add an appropriate amount of rock or industrial waste to reduce the surface tension of the melt, thereby reducing the slag ball content and expanding the temperature range of the fiber. This product is removed in a granulator to make particles with a particle size of 10-15mm, called granulated wool, which can be used as a filling or spraying material, or it can be made into plates.

Rock wool and slag wool are inorganic fiber insulation, heat insulation and sound absorption materials. They have the characteristics of low density, low thermal conductivity, non-flammability, and good sound absorption. Moreover, it has certain elasticity and softness, and is suitable for filling materials of various shapes of heat preservation and sound absorption projects. Using rock wool and slag wool as raw materials, it can be further processed into various shapes of special-shaped heat preservation, cold preservation, heat insulation, and acoustic products, so that the application and construction are more convenient. Rock wool also has a large acidity coefficient, so it is less corrosive to metals, and is more suitable for metal furnaces and pipelines for heat preservation and heat insulation projects.

Adding other adhesives with various special physical properties to the slag wool can be made into various slag wool products, mainly granular cotton, mineral wool asphalt felt, mineral wool semi-rigid board, mineral wool insulation pipe, mineral wool semi-rigid board Seam felt, mineral wool insulation tape, mineral wool sound-absorbing tape and mineral wool decorative sound-absorbing board, etc.
