Slag wool is a kind of white cotton-like mineral fiber that is made of slag as the main raw material and is melted in a melting furnace to obtain a molten material. After further processing, it is a white cotton-like mineral fiber that has the properties of heat preservation and sound insulation. There are two main methods for producing slag wool: injection method and centrifugal method. The raw material is melted and flowed out in the furnace, and the method of blowing into slag wool with steam or compressed air is called the injection method; the method in which the raw material melted in the furnace falls on a rotating disc and spun into the slag wool by centrifugal force is called the centrifugal method. The main raw material for the production of slag wool is blast furnace slag, which accounts for 80% to 90%, and the fuel is coke.
Using blast furnace slag, ferromanganese and ferronickel as raw materials for slag wool can significantly reduce production energy consumption and costs, improve the environment, and at the same time have better economic benefits. Statistics show that for every 1 ton of mineral wool insulation products used in buildings, 1 ton of oil can be saved a year. The coal saving rate per unit area is 11.91kg-standard coal/m2 per year. With the continuous deepening of energy conservation and emission reduction in my country, mineral wool products and their applications are facing huge development opportunities. In the past 20 years, energy supply has become increasingly tight. Building energy conservation, fire protection, sound insulation and noise reduction have become the focus of attention. Mineral wool products are widely used as new building materials in the construction field. Slag wool is a short-fiber mineral wool made from slag, which is mainly used as heat insulation material and sound absorption material
